Coverage we write for New York clients
- Personal auto insurance: every driver and vehicle in the household, including teen drivers, tickets and lapses.
- Homeowners, condo, renters and landlord insurance.
- Commercial auto and fleet insurance, including hired and non-owned auto.
- Contractor general liability, workers' compensation and tools and equipment.
- Contractor license and surety bonds, plus umbrella and excess liability.
New York auto insurance requirements
25/50/10 (bodily injury per person / per accident / property damage); no change 2023-2026. No-fault Personal Injury Protection (PIP) of $50,000 and uninsured motorist coverage at the same 25/50 bodily injury minimums are both mandatory.
State minimums are a legal floor, not a recommendation. One serious accident can exceed them, so we quote higher limits side by side.
Workers' compensation in New York
Most New York for-profit employers must cover their employees, including part-time workers, so a single employee triggers the requirement; there is no separate higher threshold for contractors.
Applying? Download our Workers' Comp Supplemental Application.
Contractors in New York
New York State does not license home improvement contractors; some localities do, including New York City, Buffalo, and Suffolk, Nassau, Westchester, Putnam and Rockland counties. No statewide contractor license bond.
We write general liability, workers' comp, commercial auto and equipment coverage, issue certificates and additional insured endorsements, and place license and contract bonds. Start with the Contractor General Liability Supplemental.
Homeowners insurance in New York
The New York Property Insurance Underwriting Association (NYPIUA), created in 1968, provides basic property insurance to New Yorkers who cannot obtain it in the voluntary market.
Use the Homeowners Application or, for rentals, the Landlord / Rental Property Application.
